An indoor cage placed in a well-lit, temperature-stable room provides a secure and manageable living environment for a Senegal Dove, particularly in regions with harsh winters or extreme summer heat.

Direct sunlight is the most efficient source of the ultraviolet-B radiation that birds need for vitamin D3 synthesis, which in turn drives calcium absorption. Resting behavior in Senegal Doves follows predictable patterns that inform cage layout decisions. These birds typically select the highest available perch for nighttime roosting and prefer a spot that provides a sense of enclosure on at least one or two sides, such as a corner or a perch positioned near a solid cage wall.
