Air quality monitors that measure volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, and carbon dioxide levels give you data that your senses alone cannot reliably detect. This matters particularly for bird owners because avian respiratory systems are extraordinarily sensitive — the proverbial canary in the coal mine was proverbial precisely because birds react to airborne toxins long before mammals do.
