Hatchlings, which typically emerge at ten to fifteen inches in length, are growing rapidly and require feeding every five to seven days to support skeletal development, muscle growth, and the metabolic demands of their first year. Sub-adults in the two-to-four-foot range can transition to feeding every seven to ten days as growth rate begins to plateau. Healthy adults maintained at stable temperatures generally thrive on a meal every ten to fourteen days, though individual metabolism, activity level, and reproductive status all influence the ideal interval.
