Dairy products are entirely indigestible for a species that lacks the enzymes to process lactose. Honey is pure sugar with no protein or mineral content and promotes bacterial growth in food dishes left overnight in a warm, humid enclosure.

Fireflies and any bioluminescent insects are lethally toxic to reptiles and must never be offered under any circumstances. The lucibufagins these insects contain cause rapid cardiac failure in geckos even from a single specimen. Similarly, any brightly colored or foul-smelling wild insect is advertising its chemical defenses and should be treated as dangerous. If an insect cannot be positively identified as a safe, captive-bred feeder species, it does not belong in the enclosure.
