Recovery should be managed carefully and patiently, with the primary goals being rehydration, gradual resumption of feeding, and restoration of body condition over the weeks and months following delivery.

Offer fresh water immediately and maintain elevated humidity to support rehydration. Many postpartum females will drink eagerly within the first day or two after giving birth. Do not attempt to feed the female until she has had at least one to two weeks of uninterrupted rest after delivery. When feeding is resumed, start with prey items that are smaller than her normal adult ration and gradually increase the size over several feeding sessions as her appetite and digestive capacity return.
