Provide climbing structures, platforms at various heights, ramps, and large rocks or stumps that encourage jumping and exploration. Adequate pasture or browse access is ideal for juvenile Pygmy Goats. They are natural browsers that prefer shrubs, weeds, bark, and brush over manicured grass, though they will graze as well. Spay/Neuter & Wethering Considerations

The decision to spay, neuter, or wether a juvenile Pygmy Goat depends on the animal's intended purpose and your long-term herd management plans. Wethering, or castrating a male goat, is the most common procedure and is strongly recommended for any buck not intended for breeding. Intact bucks develop strong odors, can become aggressive, and will breed any available does, making them difficult to house in mixed-sex groups. Wethers are calmer, more manageable, and make excellent pets and companions.

The timing of wethering is important and should be discussed with your veterinarian. Castrating too early, before the urinary tract has had sufficient time to develop, increases the risk of urinary calculi, a potentially life-threatening blockage of the urinary tract that is already a concern in male goats. Socialization & Herd Integration

Integrating juvenile Pygmy Goats into an existing herd requires careful planning and patience. Adult goats can be rough with newcomers, and a young juvenile that is suddenly placed among established adults may be bullied, injured, or denied access to food and shelter.
