They degrade over time in the humid environment, which means they need periodic replacement, but their low cost makes this trivial. The snake will use them as hides, tunnels, and hunting corridors. Replace them when they become soggy or show signs of mold growth.

Rotating enrichment items in and out of the enclosure on a regular schedule maximizes the novelty value of each item without requiring a large collection. A set of five or six bark pieces, stones, and other objects rotated in groups of two or three every few weeks keeps the environment dynamic.
