This sensitivity elevates accessories related to water treatment and testing from optional to mandatory.

Commercially produced aquarium hides come in a range of materials and styles. Ceramic caves, coconut shell halves, and smooth resin logs are all suitable provided they meet the basic safety criteria: no sharp edges, no narrow single-entrance traps, and no painted surfaces that may flake. A good hide is dark inside, open enough for the frog to enter and exit without difficulty, and heavy or stable enough that it does not shift when the frog moves beneath it.

Resting surfaces at mid-water depth are a category of accessory that many keepers overlook. African Dwarf Frogs frequently rest partway up in the water column, using broad leaves, flat stones, or ledges to pause during their trips to and from the surface. Suction-cup-mounted leaf hammocks, originally designed for betta fish, serve this purpose well in a dwarf frog tank.
