Feeding Schedule

A tarantula that refuses food is almost certainly in pre-molt, and feeder insects left in the enclosure during this vulnerable period can injure or kill a molting spider. If your Cobalt Blue refuses food two or three times in a row, stop offering and wait for signs that the molt has completed before resuming the feeding schedule. Monitoring Body Condition

Conversely, difficult molts — including stuck exuviae, curled legs, or prolonged molting times — can indicate nutritional deficiencies or, more commonly, inadequate humidity. Tracking the frequency and quality of your tarantula's molts over time gives you a long-term picture of its nutritional health.

Keep a simple log of feeding dates, prey items offered, whether the spider accepted or refused food, and molt dates. This record becomes invaluable for recognizing patterns in your individual spider's behavior, predicting upcoming molts based on feeding refusal patterns, and troubleshooting any health issues that may arise. Even a basic spreadsheet or notebook entry after each feeding session provides useful data over the life of your tarantula.
