Overstocking leads to overgrazing, which forces animals to graze closer to the ground where parasite larvae concentrate. A general guideline for juvenile Suffolks on average-quality pasture is four to six animals per acre, but this varies considerably based on soil fertility, rainfall, forage species, and whether supplemental feed is provided.
