Both conditions require similar environmental improvements and supportive care. GI stasis is a common secondary complication because pain from hutch burn causes stress and decreased appetite, which rapidly leads to dangerous slowing of gut motility. Any rabbit with hutch burn should be monitored closely for signs of GI stasis including reduced appetite, smaller or absent fecal pellets, and lethargy.
