Day geckos use vertical space far more than floor area, so enclosure height matters more than footprint. A single adult Giant Day Gecko should be housed in a tall terrarium of at least roughly 18 x 18 x 24 inches, and most keepers find that something closer to 24 x 18 x 36 inches gives a more natural, lower-stress environment.
Think in terms of usable climbing volume rather than raw dimensions. A tall enclosure densely furnished with branches, cork, and plants provides far more functional territory than an empty box of the same size, because the gecko lives on the vertical surfaces, not the substrate.
Plan for growth and behavior from the start. These are active, fast animals that defend territory, so building in adequate space and sight breaks early prevents the stress and aggression that crop up when a day gecko outgrows a cramped or featureless enclosure.
