A well-enriched macaw environment includes toys from multiple functional categories: destructible items that satisfy the urge to shred and dismantle, foraging devices that challenge the bird to extract hidden food, physical structures that encourage climbing, swinging, and spatial problem-solving, and tactile objects that provide varied sensory experiences. No single toy category fulfills all of the bird's needs, and an enrichment program that relies exclusively on one type will leave behavioral gaps that manifest as boredom and frustration.
