While vitamin K1 is the specific antidote for anticoagulant rodenticide poisoning, treatment often requires extended therapy lasting weeks to months depending on the type of rodenticide involved. Second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides have very long half-lives in the body, necessitating prolonged vitamin K1 supplementation to prevent delayed bleeding.
