Introduce the male into the female's enclosure rather than the reverse, as females are territorial and may be more receptive in familiar surroundings.

Mating can last anywhere from thirty minutes to several hours and may occur multiple times over a period of days or weeks. Genetic responsibility is another critical consideration. Both parent animals should be of known provenance, with no history of congenital health issues or genetic abnormalities. The physical toll of breeding on the female should not be underestimated.
