Sexual dimorphism becomes reliably visible once the gecko has reached maturity. Males possess clearly defined hemipenal bulges visible as paired swellings at the base of the tail immediately posterior to the vent, along with a V-shaped row of enlarged pre-anal pores on the ventral surface just anterior to the cloaca. These pores produce waxy secretions used in territorial scent marking and are either absent or vestigial in females.
