Males tend to develop brighter, more varied coloration than females, and dominant individuals often display more vivid patterns. The ability to change color also becomes more refined during this stage, with juveniles learning to use color shifts for thermoregulation, communication, and camouflage.
Keepers should monitor growth rates closely by weighing juveniles regularly on a small digital scale. Consistent weight gain is the best indicator of good health and proper husbandry.
