Over the following days, excursions become longer and more confident as the chick's flight feathers mature and its coordination improves. Ensure the cage is set up to accommodate these early flights, with perches at various heights and no hazards that could injure an unsteady flyer.

Weaning in parent-raised lovebirds is a natural process that the parents typically manage on their own. The hen and cock gradually reduce the frequency of feedings as the chick begins to explore solid foods in the cage. Offer a variety of easy-to-eat foods such as softened pellets, sprouted seeds, finely chopped greens, and small pieces of fruit at cage-floor level where the chicks can access them. Limit the number of clutches a pair produces per year to protect the hen's health.
