Staphylococcal infections are treatable when diagnosed appropriately and managed with suitable antibiotic therapy. Culture and sensitivity testing is particularly important because staphylococci, especially Staphylococcus aureus, have significant capacity for antibiotic resistance development, including methicillin-resistant strains that pose treatment challenges. Localized infections often require combined medical and surgical approaches, as the caseous nature of reptile abscesses prevents effective drainage without surgical intervention.
