Secondary complications arising from scrotal abscess can significantly impact health outcomes. Septicemia, the spread of bacteria through the bloodstream, represents the most serious potential complication and can rapidly become life-threatening. Chronic abscessation may develop if initial treatment fails to eliminate the bacterial infection completely. Adhesions and scarring from severe infections may cause persistent discomfort or functional problems. Testicular damage from adjacent infection may result in permanent loss of fertility. Psychological effects including persistent fear of handling or changes in temperament may follow painful experiences.
