Treatment options for skin tumors in hamsters have improved significantly with advances in exotic animal medicine, and many tumors can now be successfully managed. Surgical excision remains the treatment of choice for most accessible tumors, offering both cure for many benign tumors and extended survival for some malignant ones. Cryotherapy, laser therapy, and other modalities may be appropriate for certain tumor types or locations. Palliative care can maintain quality of life when curative treatment is not possible.
