Virtually all reptile species kept in captivity are susceptible to respiratory infections, including lizards such as bearded dragons, leopard geckos, chameleons, and iguanas, as well as chelonians including aquatic turtles and tortoises. The prevalence of respiratory infections in captive reptiles is high, with some surveys suggesting that respiratory disease accounts for a substantial portion of reptile veterinary visits.
