The first and most essential step is removing the animal from the toxic environment and establishing proper husbandry. Secondary infections and tissue damage are treated as needed. With appropriate intervention, most reptiles recover fully, though those with severe or prolonged exposure may sustain permanent damage to respiratory tissues or other organs.
