Valley Fever occurs sporadically in horses living in or traveling through endemic regions, with the highest incidence found in Arizona, California's San Joaquin Valley, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. The disease demonstrates seasonal patterns, with increased cases following periods of drought succeeded by rainfall, which creates optimal conditions for fungal growth and spore dispersal.
