African Swine Fever (ASF) is a devastating and highly contagious viral disease that affects domestic pigs and wild boar, caused by the African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV), a large double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the family Asfarviridae. This disease represents one of the most serious threats to global swine production, characterized by high fever, hemorrhages in the skin and internal organs, and mortality rates approaching 100% in naive pig populations.
