Potential complications from nasal tumors include both local and systemic effects that may develop as the disease progresses. Local extension of tumors can involve surrounding structures including the orbit, causing eye displacement and vision changes, or the brain, causing neurological symptoms such as seizures or behavior changes. Bone destruction leads to facial deformity and potentially pathologic fractures. Severe hemorrhage can occur if tumors erode into major blood vessels. Secondary infections may become severe or systemic. Respiratory compromise becomes critical if obstruction becomes complete.
