Secondary infections may occur due to compromised immune function or aspiration of regurgitated material. Metastatic spread of malignant tumors to the liver, lungs, or other organs leads to additional organ dysfunction and worsening prognosis. Obstruction of the digestive tract can occur if tumors grow large enough to block food passage, representing a serious complication requiring urgent intervention. Ascites, or fluid accumulation in the abdomen, may develop in advanced cases. Monitoring for these complications helps guide management decisions and allows timely intervention when possible.
