Section 5 Behavior And Compatibility
Platyfish are active, peaceful fish that spend their time swimming through all levels of the tank. They're not aggressive or territorial, and they display no interest in harassing other peaceful fish. Their activity level is moderate—they're constantly moving without being frantic or stressed. They form no real hierarchies or aggressive pecking orders within their groups. In a properly stocked tank, they coexist peacefully with all similar-sized peaceful fish.

Bettas are problematic in a male-heavy platy tank where the platy males harass them. Cold-water fish like goldfish are incompatible because of temperature requirements.
