Animals

Name: "Doc" (Destiny On Call)
Breed: Arabian
Foal Date: May/1998
Age: 9
Sex: Gelding
Status: Barrel Racer/Pet
Doc

Notes: Doc was A & M's first horse. He is the herd leader and makes sure that every new horse knows it. He also runs an exceptional barrel pattern. Doc is our pride and joy, he seems to be smarter than the rest of the herd, and loves to take advantage of the fact that he is. A pure blood Polish Arabian, he was bought from a halter breeder in Florida right before he was to be destroyed because of a white eye which at that time would inhibit him from showing. The rules have since changed in the Arabian halter world. This horse is beautiful in every sense. He loves people and everyone who meets him comments on how personable he is.

Name: "Kolu"
Breed: Breeding Stock Paint
Foal Date: May/2002
Age:
Sex: Gelding
Status: Pet
Kolu

Notes: We bought this colt in Florida and brought him with us to Ohio. He is a very gentle horse so we use him for lessons and trail rides. We have raised him from the day he was foaled.

Name: "Scooby"
Breed: Clydesdale/Paint
Foal Date: July/2005
Age:
Sex: Gelding
Status: Rescue/Pet
Scooby

Notes: Scooby was rescued from a horse trader when he was very young. Evidently he wasn't fed very well which resulted in a malformed hip. We'll keep him as a companion horse for the rest of his life. He is friendly with everyone and a favorite among children.

Name: "Shaggy"
Breed: Belgian
Foal Date: Approximately June/2006
Age:
Sex: Stud Colt
Status: Rescue/Pet
Shaggy

Notes: He's another one of those very skinny, afraid of people horses that we just had to rescue at the local auction. We've since fattened him up and made friends. Now he's like a big dog. Wonderful horse.

Name: "April"
Breed: Breeding Stock Paint
Foal Date: April/2006
Age: 18 Months
Sex: Mare
Status: Rescue/Pet
April

Notes: She came to us from a mare we had traded for another horse. The mare that had her developed mastitis and the filly could not eat. April was then given to us to bottle feed for the next three and a half months until such time as she was weened from the bottle. We ended up keeping her, and we are finding that she isn't scared of anything since she was a bottle baby.

Name: "Dixie"
Breed: Buckskin
Foal Date: May/2006
Age: 17 Months
Sex: Mare
Status: Rescue/Pet
Dixie

Notes: Dixie was also bought at the local auction. She needed some TLC really bad since she had little or no human interaction. She was also very skinny and leary of anyone that got near her. Now she is a fat & happy with a curiosity towards people that is second to none. Her and April are inseparable.

Name: "Liam"
Breed: Chow Chow
Birth Date: April/2000
Age: 7
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Status: House Pet
Liam

Notes: He was bought in Florida to watch over our home because I was on the road a lot with my job. My main concern, not knowing that much about Chows, was my son's safety around the dog. Well, this dog was in love with our son from the moment the two met, and has been one of the greatest companions to me that I could have ever asked for. He's getting old now, but his eyes are just as bright as ever, and he loves all the attention (butt scratches) he can get.

Name: "Jordy"
Breed: Jack Russel Terrier
Birth Date: July/2001
Age: 6
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Status: House Pet
Jordy

Notes: This was the worst puppy we've ever had. When he grew up he turned into the best dog we've ever had. If he wasn't so cute we would have found a home for him when he was young. I'm sure glad we didn't, he has turned out to be a great companion also, not for just me but the entire family and the other animals.

Name: "Music" (Mew)
Breed:
Birth Date: Approximately June/2004
Age:
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Status: Rescue/Barn Cat/Pet
Music

Notes: Music was left on our property when he was just a kitten. He was our first barn cat. He loves attention from anyone, but hates to be in the house. All barn cats are completely clawed just in case they have to defend themselves against predators.

Name: "Dove"
Breed:
Birth Date: Approximately March/2007
Age:
Sex: Female (Spayed)
Status: Rescue/Barn Cat/Pet
Dove

Notes: One of three kittens we adoted that were feral. After working with them extensively we were able to make friends with all of them, and make them into wonderful barn cats. We cage them at night so nothing can hurt them. All barn cats are completely clawed just in case they have to defend themselves against predators.

Name: "Zero"
Breed:
Birth Date: Approximately March/2007
Age:
Sex: Female (Spayed)
Status: Rescue/Barn Cat/Pet
Zero

Notes: One of three kittens we adoted that were feral. After working with them extensively we were able to make friends with all of them, and make them into wonderful barn cats. We cage them at night so nothing can hurt them. All barn cats are completely clawed just in case they have to defend themselves against predators.

Name: "Heath"

Birth Date: Approximately March/2007

Sex: Female (Spayed)
Status: Rescue/Barn Cat/Pet
Heath

Notes: One of three kittens we adoted that were feral. After working with them extensively we were able to make friends with all of them, and make them into wonderful barn cats. We cage them at night so nothing can hurt them. All barn cats are completely clawed just in case they have to defend themselves against predators.

Name: "Casper"
Breed:
Birth Date: Unknown
Age: 7+
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Status: Rescue/House Cat/Pet
Casper

Notes: Casper kind of adopted my wife and I. When we moved to Ohio in 2001 we saw Casper on the property but assumed he was feral. He wouldn't come near anyone. After about two years he decided to make friends with my wife and he has been a loving addition to our family ever since. We later found that he used to belong to someone up our street but had since moved and just let him go to fend for himself. Casper gets a little restless if he's kept in all the time, so we let him out during the day and we bring him in at night which seems to be a suitable arrangement for him. He waits by the door insisting to be brought in at night. Normally we don't believe in letting domesticated cats outside, but he seems to be the exception to the rule. He is completely clawed and seems to get along very well with all the animals except other cats. So we steer him clear of other cats...
